Requirements
Hardware resources (server, storage, networking, NetScalers) required for this project
o Minimum 320 CPUs
o Minimum 1.25TB
o 5.25TB Storage – all flash storage recommended for Virtual Desktop Write Cache
 VMware vSphere 6.0 or newer environment
 Networking segments have been created and presented to the vSphere hosts for the following:
o (1x) Citrix management infrastructure segment
 Routed, layer 3 network
o (1x) Faculty / Staff VDI segment
 Routed, layer 3 network
o (1x) Faculty / Staff Restricted segment
 Routed, layer 3 network
o (1x) Student Lab segment
 Routed, layer 3 network
o (1x) PVS Streaming segment
 Non-Routed, layer 2 network
 DHCP scope options required
o (1x) Guest / Kiosk segment
 Routed, layer 3 network
 Networking segments will be /23 subnets for a total of 510 hosts, all will require DHCP
 Windows Server 2008 R2, 2016, Windows 7, and 10 licenses and KMS infrastructure for Operating System
activations
 CSUS prepared and customized Windows Server 2012 R2 virtual machine template on VMware vSphere
for Citrix management infrastructure servers.
 CSUS prepared and customized virtual machine templates for XenApp and XenDesktop virtual
machines, including: Windows 7 Enterprise, Windows 10 Enterprise, Windows Server 2008 R2, and
Windows Server 2016.
 Microsoft Office installation media, KMS license keys and KMS infrastructure available for installation.
 Highly available Microsoft SQL Server (2012 or later) for hosting Citrix XenDesktop databases. Database
clustering, mirroring, or AlwaysOn highly recommended to minimize impact from database outages. If
desired, a dedicated Microsoft SQL Server cluster or mirror will be built by Entisys360 as a change order
upon request.
 Citrix XenDesktop 7.x Platinum licenses have been acquired and are ready for installation.
 Citrix XenDesktop 7.x media is downloaded and ready to use
 Microsoft Remote Desktop Services (RDS) Client Access Licenses (CALs) for Windows Server 2008 R2
and Windows Server 2016 have been acquired and are ready for installation.
 Active Directory and Group Policy access directly or through CSUS staff to create necessary
Organizational Units, computer objects, service accounts, and Group Policies throughout the project.
 Implement necessary change requests after coordinating with the Entisys360 implementation engineer
 CSUS staff to create external IP address, firewall rules, and external DNS entries
 Publicly signed 2048-bit or better SSL certificate (i.e. Thawte, Verisign, GoDaddy, etc.) has been
purchased, if not already available, for remote access. Entisys360 will assist
