Changed status from In Process to Completed - Met Expectations.
Platinum Analytics has been rolled out to the Department Chairs for their use. In the next few months, we are adding filed for requested room capacity field as well as a reserve cap modification to courses. We will also start a new project to ingest Smart Planner data into Platinum Analytics.

The feedback from the vendor as to Sac State's progress in comparison to other similar institutions shows that the university is making great progress in managing and improving course delivery and meeting course demand. Our Enrollment Ratio goal is 85%, and in one year, we are closer by 2% (from 93% to 91%). Our Overloaded Course Ratio decreased by 8 points or 15% between Fall 2015 and Fall 2016. And our Balanced Course Ratio is up 5%. While there are still areas to tweak, all the deliverables for this project itself have been met.

Description

Platinum Analytics is a "system that provides business intelligence for academic units for the creation of student-friendly and efficient course schedules." It provides institutional analysis of instructional capacity, course offerings and student demand based on historical and current data, allowing administrators to more efficiently plan resources to alleviate bottlenecks and provide students with the courses they need. It also provides access to "a peer comparison database of performance indicators for the allocation of faculty and academic space that provides a benchmark" as well as "longitudinal tracking and insight to opportunities for balancing instructional resources."

Organizational Risks

  1. High Benefit

Consumes historical data and models it to inform decisions on what courses need more/less sections/seats to make our enrollment ratio effective and reduce bottlenecks for students.

  2. Medium Data Classification

  3. High Data Quality

  4. Medium Dependency on External Project Teams

Vendor (Ad Astra) runs the reports and makes modifications based on team recommendations.

  5. Medium Functional Requirements of the Project

  6. High Number of department this will impact

  7. Low Number of Locations to deploy

  8. Medium Number of system interfaces

  9. Medium Organization processes, procedures, policies

  10. Medium Packaged Implementation - Customization

  11. Low Packaged Implementation - Data Specification

  12. Low Project Managment Process and Procedures

  13. Medium Project Resources

  14. Low Scope of the Project

  15. Low Subject Matter

  16. Low Technical Requirements

  17. Medium Technology being utilized

  18. Medium Total Estimated Hours

  19. High Total Estimated Project Duration
