Problem / Opportunity
Briefly summarize the problem or opportunity you propose to address. Write this in terms of the organizational problem being addressed, not in terms of the solution needed.
Financial Aid would like to utilize this same “technology” used for P2D Meter to provide students with a snapshot of remaining aid eligibility to coincide with their degree progress. These two visuals side by side would be a powerful counseling tool as Student Affairs moves toward a “case management” approach in delivery of student services. As a student inquires about their situation staff would also review with them this single screen where both degree progress and financial aid are clearly displayed, helping to ensure a student’s progress to degree will be funded through to completion. This is timely now that both Federal and State funding limits has been “capped” by an aggregate student measurement.
Goals & Objectives
Objectives are specific, measurable, and timed outcomes of the project that are stated in terms of the problem solutions or opportunities users will experience.
 Utilize similar technology with P2D meter to develop a financial aid gauge to coincide with academic progress.
 Gauge would display percentage of total aid used by program in comparison to each aid program aggregate.
 This data would be estimated and is retrieved through NSLDS and loaded in to CMS.
 Gauge would start in Green and move to Red as student approached aggregate amounts.
Project Steps
Clearly state the major steps necessary to complete the project goals and objectives, with a focus on the non-IT planning steps required. List steps sequentially, with responsible parties noted.
Financial Aid Staff have already put in some initial work toward scope of project and this work was delayed with New Aid Year Start up. Team is prepared to reconvene efforts in July 2015 looking toward a Spring 2016 implementation.
Area Lead
The person in your area who will help lead the following: document requirements, bring in appropriate resources (e.g., faculty, students, staff, etc.), and oversee tasks, testing, and training.
Anita Kermes / Steven Salcido
Functional Teams and Other Resources
Please do your best to define personnel needed for your project, as well as your best estimate of the number of hours needed from those project team members.

Risks and Dependencies
Identify any factors that can affect the outcome of the project including major dependencies on other events or actions. These factors can affect deliverables, success, and completion of the project.
 The dependency would include ability to pull NSLDS information into “gauge” for each student. Timing of information will need to be considered as well as accuracy of information due to external variables. Even with limitations this tool would provide our students with valuable information in a single location.
 Identify any high probability factors that can put the project at risk. Completing any one or all of these items will be dependent on coordinated efforts. Competing priorities and staffing resources are always a risk to any project.
Executive Sponsor
Each project must have an executive sponsor (VP / Cabinet level executive).
